Latch & Learn Package
Become an Empowered Parent on your terms without the overwhelm from not knowing what to do, getting conflicting advice, and the stress and struggle to keep going by yourself.
They say having a new baby is the most beautiful experience ever. What they don’t say is how challenging parenting can be at the beginning. You may be pregnant and worried about what it’s going to be like. You may have heard stories of challenges from your friends. You may have your baby and feel like you are on your own, isolated, not really knowing what to do, just wanting more sleep, wanting less pain. You want to feel less anxious and fearful about your baby. You may find yourself tense with the thought of feeding, confused with mixed opinions of what to do. You may be feeling guilty that you are not a good enough mother or even feeling rejected by your baby. You’re worried that this is not how you want to feel as a mother.
I have been fortunate to work with new parents and their babies for decades in hospitals and a wide variety of community settings. Also, I’ve taught doctors, nurses, and midwives to provide evidence-based infant feeding support.
If you are pregnant or recently delivered and would like to set yourself up for optimal success, or your baby is already born and breastfeeding is not going as well as you hoped, you’re anxious, uncomfortable, worried about your baby, or otherwise challenged, consider this giant benefit.
Maximize YOUR success, confidence,
and sense of empowerment.
A little about Sonya…
Sonya is a Registered Nurse and International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. Her mission is to support parents to become empowered in working towards a fundamental early goal as set by them, such as exclusively breastfeeding their infant comfortably, working towards a full milk supply, or creating the ideal breastfeeding experience for each individual mother and baby pair.
Sonya works with families from late pregnancy to powerfully set them up for success.
And she works with parents who either want to avoid issues or are struggling and overwhelmed, bringing them to a place of increased knowledge and confidence, in a calm, non-judgemental, safe space.
Sonya has helped hundreds of parents from pregnancy to their baby’s first birthday and older. These parents learned how to prevent issues, how to work on their feeding goals, and became more empowered. Her scope is broad; from prevention and anticipatory teaching to dealing with complex feeding issues, issues which may involve breast and bottle feeding, breast milk and infant formula.
Before babies are born, most women have rarely witnessed breastfeeding up close, and books only teach so much. Books cannot teach about your baby, your breasts, your circumstances. Private consults with Sonya (Lactation Care) have opened to clients the real issue behind a symptom or experience they have, how to read and respond to their baby’s behaviours, and strategies to work towards their goals. More importantly, these sessions result in parents being more confident in what they need to do to meet their goals.
Sonya’s clients are consistently surprised by how much they learn from their consultations. They are relieved to understand their unique situation better and to acquire knowledge and specific recommendations to take action towards their goals powerfully. Further, they are more tuned into their baby, understanding behaviours and connecting more to their beautiful little one. In essence, parenting is enhanced. Knowing they have someone who supports them and their parenting needs is the bonus they value most.

FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions)
How long should I expect a consult to last?
Consult lengths are 90 minutes. After the consult, the visit is written up and personalized recommendations are emailed to you.
What if I need to cancel visits?
Your spot is booked and becomes a priority. If you must cancel please provide at least 24 hours’ notice. Less than that will result in forfeiting one consult. Exceptions will be made for emergencies or the development of illness. Likewise, if Sonya develops symptoms she may also need to reschedule or offer a virtual consult.
By when do I need to complete my in-home or in-person consultations?
For a new mother, consults must be used within 6 weeks of purchase. For a pregnant mother, consults must be used within 6 weeks of delivery. Clients are responsible to keep track.
Will you be in touch with my primary health care provider?
In some situations, and with your permission, it makes sense for us to speak directly with your baby’s doctor, midwife, or nurse practitioner to get us working on the same page for you.
Can I purchase additional services?
Yes, additional services may be purchased. Simply ask. If the consultation goes overtime or travel is longer than expected, the price may also be adjusted.
How can my partner be involved?
Your partner is encouraged to be involved to help support you, be another set of ears, understand the strategies and suggestions.
